The Topics For Five Paragraph Essay
The Topics For Five Paragraph EssayThe topics for the five paragraph essays are quite different from the topics for essays that you would normally write. You will not be writing about such popular subjects as history, geography, or literature, and you will not be writing about your favorite sports team. However, if you choose your topics carefully and use them properly, you will be able to get your five paragraph essay writing done successfully. To start with, you will want to make sure that your five paragraph essay is unique in a few ways. For example, instead of writing about yourself or a famous historical figure, you might want to give a little background about the topic at hand. For example, you might want to write about how the military handled an immediate situation, instead of describing how a battle was won or lost.In addition, you might be interested in giving some background information about a person's accomplishments. You might be interested in describing a war from your own perspective, or you might be interested in describing how a person overcame adversity. For example, you might be interested in writing about an athlete who grew up poor who overcame those circumstances to become a world class athlete. You might also want to describe a physical event, like a successful exhibition, or a prestigious award. You might also be interested in describing a cultural event, like a visit to a new country. The key is to choose the topics for your essay that would help to tell the story of the topic.A very important thing to remember is that your first draft will not be perfect. You will still need to correct and edit it to make it as close to what you are looking for as possible. However, don't worry too much about your first draft because it will be far better than your final version. One way to give your five paragraph essay the boost it needs is to use only the ideas that you have chosen for your topic. This will allow you to eliminate any distractions, li ke irrelevant information, and will provide you with a clearer picture of the topic. Instead of mentioning how great you think your neighbor's dog is, for example, you might want to focus on why you think your neighbor's dog is so great. You might decide that you like the way the dog treats its owner, or you might just like the way it sounds when it barks. Finally, remember that you want to keep your message positive. While this can be difficult in today's world, you need to focus on keeping the overall tone of your essay positive, regardless of the subject. In other words, you should be positive about your topic, while still showing gratitude for the situation that made you who you are.As you can see, there are several different strategies for picking the right topics for your essay. If you follow these tips, you should be able to find the topics for your essay that work well for you.

Thing to Consider When Planting A Norway Maple
Norway maple (Acer platanoides) was introduced by botanist John Bartram of Philadelphia from England to the U.S. in 1756. It has been planted on farms and in towns for its shade, hardiness, and adaptability to adverse conditions, which has ensured that the maple, when planted, would spread like wildfire. Because of this, and a variety of other negative factors, the Norway maple has earned itself the title of a Bad Tree, meaning its destruction is often sought out by city governments and concerned landscapers fearing that the large canopy of leaves this particular maple yields will block all other growth underneath it. However, there is a number of redeeming qualities to this type of trees such as its tolerance to multiple types of soil nutrients and climate conditions, its optimal fall foliage, and beautiful yellow flowers in the spring. Why Norway Maples Are Bad Trees The shallow, fibrous root system and dense shade of Norway maple make it virtually impossible for grass to grow under the tree, and the aggressive roots frequently girdle even the parent tree, ultimately choking itself to death, making it a bad tree if youre planning on growing anything else around it. Further, Norway maples are also non-native invasive exotic trees that have escaped the urban environment and is a threat to native maples because of its sun-blocking foliage. Norway maple populations overwhelm sites by displacing native trees, shrubs, and herbaceous understory plants, and once established, creating a canopy of dense shade that prevents regeneration of native seedlings; it is also thought to release root toxins that inhibit or prevent the growth of other plants. Norway maples also reproduce quickly, forming dense root systems in a matter of seasons that are nearly impossible to fully remove without killing the surrounding soil entirely. However, this isnt to say there are no redeeming qualities for this type of tree. Redeeming Features Norway maples are arguably among the most beautiful variety of maple tree currently in North America with rich yellow leaves in the fall under optimal conditions and lovely yellow flowers on leafless branches in the spring. These trees are also highly resistant to climate conditions and lack of nutrition in the soil and can grow almost anywhere as a result, which makes them great for planting on land that usually cannot support much greenery. Also, due to their nature of spreading rapidly, harvesting new trees for distribution is surprisingly easyââ¬âjust replant one of its many roots and a new tree will begin growing in no time. Plus, Norway maples grow rather quickly and provide lots of shade, so they can be used to generate a quick, natural privacy fence for your property.

With this procedure the kidney damage may be treated and also prevent further damage. A partial nephrectomy is a surgical procedure to remove a portion of the kidney. Partial nephrectomies are normally done laparoscopically with hand assistance or with robot assistance. A radical nephrectomy involves removing the kidney and the adrenal glands. A radical nephrectomy may be done laparoscopically or by open abdominal surgery. My patient was diagnosed with damage of the left kidney. Blood tests were performed and the patient was found to have a toxic WBC granulation. This toxic granulation led infection, inflammation and sepsis. An abdominal and pelvic CT scan found a 7. 8 x 5. 6 x 6. 2 cm, solid, enhancing left lower pole renal mass and parasitic vessels in the infected area. A hand assisted partial laparoscopic nephrectomy was performed. They removed the lower portion of her left kidney. The kidney was to be tested for malignancy. The concern with my patient is that she has a past medical history of hypertension, anemia, and deep vein thrombosis. I believe these factors influenced the doctorsââ¬â¢ decision to perform a partial nephrectomy instead of taking the radical approach. To find research on this kidney condition, I accessed the Galileo database. I searched for information on ways to treat renal masses and kidney cancer. I found multiple articles about laparoscopic and radical (open) nephrectomies. I found many articles that discussed the differences between the two and the affects they have on patients who receive them. I found an interesting study called ââ¬Å"Partial Nephrectomy Is Associated with Improved Overall Survival Compared to Radical Nephrectomy in Patients with Unanticipated Benign Renal Tumours. I found it interesting because it was relevant to the health issues that were being addressed with my patient. There millions kidney patients who undergo these procedures each year. I wanted to discover which procedure provided the best outcome for my patient and others with similar kidney problems. Purpose According to this study, ââ¬Å"a partial nephrectomy has been associated with improved overall survival in patients with localized renal ma sses compared to those who received a radical nephrectomyâ⬠(Weight, 2010). The purpose of this study is to test the overall survival rate of patients who had unanticipated renal masses. Another objective of this study is to also study the effect of these procedures on cardiac specific survival rates and other causes of death related to decreased kidney function. Hypothesis The hypothesis for this study are that the use of partial nephrectomies would be first line of treatment compared to radical nephrectomies in that partial nephrectomies provide better protection of renal function. Decreased renal function will lead to a low survival rate. Patients who undergo radical nephrectomies will have higher rate of cardiac related deaths Design A seven year, nonrandomized study was conducted using 499 participants. Of these 499 particiapants, 111 patients had received a radical nephrectomy while 388 patients received a partial nephrectomy. The choice of which surgery to do was left of the surgeon and the patientââ¬â¢s preferences. They took into consideration the mass size, the appearance, the patientââ¬â¢s current health, life expectancy and the comfort of the surgeon in making their decisions. The patientââ¬â¢s comorbidities were assessed using the Charlson-Romano Comorbidity Index. Each patientââ¬â¢s vital signs were acquired using the Social Security Death Index. Anyone without a Social Security Number was excluded. The cause of death information from the patientsââ¬â¢ medical records was reviewed. From there the participants were further categorized by the condition that caused the death. Cardiac deaths ranged from death related to ischemic heart disease, CHF, ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. Renal deaths were broken down into death related to renal failure, renal insufficiency, or nephritic syndrome. All other possible causes of death were group together. Perioperative, postoperative data and renal function tests were collected before and after the procedures. Preoperative data was used to create the propensity model that was utilized in a multivariate model of survival. They measured the overall survival rate of the participants and cardiac specific survival rates. Findings Radical nephrectomies are greatly associated with an increased risk of death from any cause. Patients with unanticipated benign tumors that were treated with RN were more likely to die from any related health problem than those treated with PN. Participants who received a radical nephrectomy were more likely to be older, with high comorbidity scores, and larger tumors. Those with smaller masses and tumors were more likely to have a partial nephrectomy. Radical nephrectomies are associated with an increased risk of death by 2 folds from any cause. The risk of cardiovascular death was substantially higher in those with decreasing post-operative renal function. Decreased kidney function was related to an increase in cardiovascular death and death from any other cause in overall majority patients. Sixteen participants died of cardiac related deaths. Renal preservation was increased in the group that had the partial nephrectomy with majority of the patients having an eGFR above 60 %. Radical nephrectomy participants only had an eGFR of 30 % or lower. The higher eGFR is associated with an increase chance of survival in PN patients. Discussion Previous studies indicate that postoperative impaired renal function plays a role in the overall survival of patients with renal masses. The data concluded that no matter which surgery was performed there would be a decrease in kidney function. However, those patients who received a PN had a remarkable lower decrease in renal function. It can be stated that patients have decreased function are at an increased risk of cardiac related death and death by other causes. For many of those who donââ¬â¢t die from cardiac related death it can be concluded that other conditions that cause death are worsened by renal insufficiency. This study was relevant to the PICO question I asked. This study answered my question and provided the information necessary to make it a valid question. I believe the limitations to this study are that the researchers did not randomize their study. They picked which participants they thought would influence their study. The strengths of this article are that is discusses the importance of preserving renal function when performing a nephrectomy. It also provides evidence that patients should be educated on the risks of death and further complications associated with their procedures. It could allow for better planning and managing of the care for these patients. Implications As a nurse it would be my responsibility to knowledgeable about procedures such as these and how they will affect my patient. It would be my job to educate the patients on what to expect from this surgery and what it means for their health. I could also use this information to better assess patients before and after these procedures. This research provides material that could be used to better treat and prevent life threatening conditions that could arise after surgery. References Landman, D. (2006). Open Partial Nephrectomy. William Shakespeare Essay Paper Example For Students
William Shakespeare Essay Paper William Shakespeare, undoubtedly one of the best playwrights of all time, was born in April of 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire. His parents were John Shakespeare, a whittawer, and Mary Arden Shakespeare. He was the third of eight children born to John and Mary and was their first son. They lived on Henley Street in Stratford. His baptism was on April 26 of that year at Stratfords Holy Trinity Church. His date of birth is assumed to be April 23. He went to Stratford Grammar School from the age of seven to fourteen. At the age of eighteen, on November 28, 1582, William was married by the bishop of Worcester, to Anne Hathaway of Shottery. Anne was seven or eight years older than him and was three months pregnant at the time of their marriage. Their first child together, Susanna, was born on May 26, 1583. Two years after that, Hamnet and Judith were born together. Shakespeare and his family most likely lived in the house on Henley Street. In 1592, Shakespeares theater career took off. Robert Greene referred to him as an upstart crow, and from that point on, everyone started paying attention to him. Other famous and notable literary critics also commented on Shakespeare. Shakespeare belonged to a number of acting companies in the beginning: The Queens Men, Pembrokes Men, and Lord Stranges Men. In December of 1594, Shakespeare has been noted to have started performing again. His new acting company was known as Lord Chamberlains Men. The decade or so after that, was huge for Shakespeare. This was the time of The Great Globe theater where many of his best plays were performed. During this time, Shakespeare produced a steady line of hit plays, historical plays, comedies, and tragedies. In 1599 he finally became a part owner of the Globe. While all of this went on in London, Shakespeares family resided back in Stratford, about 100 miles northwest of London. It is suggested that he often made trips to see his family and deliver them money. In the August of 1596, his only son Hamnet died. Shakespeare left the stage in 1611, right after his last play,The Tempest. He then returned home to live with his family at the old house on Henley Street. Both of Shakespeares daughters married. Susanna, the older of his two daughters, married a locally well-known doctor named John Hall. In his final days, Dr. Hall most likely attended to him in his sickness. William Shakespeare died at the age of 52 on April 23, 1616. (Source:www.daphne.palomar.edu/shakespeare/timeline/timeline.htm)

The Original Jurisdiction of the U.S. Supreme Court
The Original Jurisdiction of the U.S. Supreme Court While the vast majority of cases considered by the U.S. Supreme Court come to it in the form of an appeal to a decision by one of the lower federal or state appeals courts, a few but important categories of cases can be taken directly to the Supreme Court under its ââ¬Å"original jurisdiction.â⬠Original jurisdiction is the power of a court to hear and decide a case before it has been heard and decided by any lower court. In other words, it is a courtââ¬â¢s power to hear and decide a case before any appellate review. The Fastest Track to the Supreme Court As originally defined in Article III, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution, and now codified in federal law at 28 U.S.C. à § 1251. Section 1251(a), the Supreme Court has original jurisdiction over four categories of cases, meaning parties involved in these types of cases can take them directly to the Supreme Court, thus bypassing the usually lengthy appeals court process. In the Judiciary Act of 1789, Congress made the Supreme Courts original jurisdiction exclusive in suits between two or more states, between a state and a foreign government, and in suits against ambassadors and other public ministers. Today, it is assumed that the Supreme Courts jurisdiction over other types of suits involving the states was to be concurrent or shared, with the state courts. The categories of cases falling under the Supreme Courtââ¬â¢s original jurisdiction are: Controversies between two or more states; All actions or proceedings to which ambassadors, other public ministers, consuls, or vice consuls of foreign states are parties; All controversies between the United States and a state; andAll actions or proceedings by a state against the citizens of another state or against aliens. In cases involving controversies between states, federal law gives the Supreme Court both original- and ââ¬Å"exclusiveâ⬠- jurisdiction, meaning such cases may be heard only by the Supreme Court.à In its 1794 decision in the case of Chisholm v. Georgia, the Supreme Court stirred controversy when it ruled that Article III granted it original jurisdiction over suits against a state by a citizen of another state. Both Congress and the states immediately saw this as a threat to the sovereignty of the states and reacted by adopting the Eleventh Amendment, which states: ââ¬Å"The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.â⬠à Marbury v. Madison: An Early Test An important aspect of the Supreme Courtââ¬â¢s original jurisdiction is that its Congress cannot expand its scope. This was established in the bizarre ââ¬Å"Midnight Judgesâ⬠incident, which led to the Courtââ¬â¢s ruling in the landmark 1803 case of Marbury v. Madison. In February 1801, newly elected President, Thomas Jefferson - an Anti-Federalist - ordered his acting Secretary of State James Madison not to deliver commissions for appointments for 16 new federal judges who had been made by his Federalist Party predecessor, President John Adams. One of the snubbed appointees, William Marbury, filed a petition for a writ of mandamus directly in the Supreme Court, on the jurisdictional grounds that the Judiciary Act of 1789 stated that the Supreme Court shall have power to issue â⬠¦ writs of mandamus ... to any courts appointed, or persons holding office, under the authority of the United States.â⬠In its first use of its power of judicial review over acts of Congress, the Supreme Court ruled that by expanding the scope of the Courtââ¬â¢s original jurisdiction to include cases involving presidential appointments to the federal courts, Congress had exceeded its constitutional authority.à à Few, but Important Cases Of the three ways in which cases may reach the Supreme Court (appeals from lower courts, appeals from state supreme courts, and original jurisdiction), by far the fewest cases are considered under the Courtââ¬â¢s original jurisdiction. On average, only two to three of the nearly 100 cases heard annually by the Supreme Court are considered under original jurisdiction. However, many are still important cases. Most original jurisdiction cases involve border or water rights disputes between two or more states, meaning they can only be resolved by the Supreme Court. For example, the now famous original jurisdiction case of Kansas v. Nebraska and Colorado involving the rights of the three states to use the waters of the Republican River was first placed on the Courtââ¬â¢s docket in 1998 and was not decided until 2015.à Other major original jurisdiction might involve lawsuits filed by a state government against a citizen of another state. In the landmark 1966 case of South Carolina v. Katzenbach, for example, South Carolina challenged the constitutionality of the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965 by suing U.S. Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach, a citizen of another state at the time. In its majority opinion written by revered Chief Justice Earl Warren, the Supreme Court rejected South Carolinaââ¬â¢s challenge finding that the Voting Rights Act was a valid exercise of Congress power under the enforcement clause of the Fifteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Original Jurisdiction Cases and Special Mastersââ¬â¢ The Supreme Court deals differently with cases considered under its original jurisdiction than those reaching it through its more traditional ââ¬Å"appellate jurisdiction.â⬠In original jurisdiction cases dealing with disputed interpretations of the law or the U.S. Constitution, the Court itself will usually hear traditional oral arguments by attorneys on the case. However, in cases dealing with disputed physical facts or actions, as often happens because they have not been heard by a trial court, the Supreme Court usually appoints a ââ¬Å"special masterâ⬠to the case. The special master- usually an attorney retained by the Court- conducts what amounts to a trial by gathering evidence, taking sworn testimony and making a ruling. The special master then submits a Special Master Report to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court then considers the special masterââ¬â¢s ruling in the same manner as a regular federal appeals court would, rather than conducting its own trial. Next, the Supreme Court decides whether to accept the special masterââ¬â¢s report or to hear arguments over the disagreements with the special masterââ¬â¢s report. Finally, the Supreme Court decides the case by voting in its traditional manner, along with written statements of concurrence and dissent. Original Jurisdiction Cases Can Take Years to Decide While most cases that reach the Supreme Court on appeal from lower courts are heard and ruled on within a year after being accepted, original jurisdiction cases assigned to a special master can take months, even years to settle. The special master must basically ââ¬Å"start from scratchâ⬠in handling the case. Volumes of pre-existing briefs and legal pleadings by both parties must be read and considered by the master. The master may also need to hold hearings in which arguments by the lawyers, evidence, and witness testimony may be presented. This process results in thousands of pages of records and transcripts that must be compiled, prepared and weighed by the special master. For example, the original jurisdiction case of Kansas v. Nebraska and Colorado involving disputed rights to water from the Republican River was accepted by the Supreme Court in 1999. Four reports from two different special masters later, the Supreme Court finally ruled on the case 16 years later in 2015. Thankfully, the people of Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado had other sources of water.

PTSD among our reurning veterans Speech or Presentation
PTSD among our reurning veterans - Speech or Presentation Example Consequently, appropriate health interventions can be recommended for treatment. To this end, the article defines PTSD as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is a mental disorder that manifests itself after a person undergoes or witnesses a traumatic event such as war, death or physical harm. Consequently, its characteristic symptoms include hyper arousal, avoidance, re-experiencing and numbing. Over and above this, the prevalence rates of PTSD in the population indicated that women had a 13% probability rate of developing it while men had 6.2% probability rate. In total, its prevalence among the general population is 7.8%. However, of interest is the prevalence rate of PTSD among the veterans. To this end, the article acknowledged that PTSD was highly prevalent among American war veterans. For example, statistics showed that 27% to 31% of veterans from Vietnam had experienced PTSD, and 12% to 13% of Iraq veterans had been affected by PTSD. Consequently, the article focuses on the war veterans and the role of nurses as primary caregivers. This is in recognition that while seeking medical care, the veterans first point of contact is with the nurses. Consequently, the article seeks to emphasize the need for all nurses to be conversant with the signs and symptoms of PTSD. Moreover, they are expected to be conversant of all the resources at their disposal to aid in the treating of PTSD. In addition, the nurses are expected to be conversant with the conditions of military sexual trauma and consequently recommend screening and treatment for the victims. Seeking to establish the prevalence of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder among war veterans, the article identified its research basis through statistical studies conducted on past and present wars. To this end, the article cited the National Vietnam Veterans Readjustment Study that was conducted in 1998. The results were indicative that between 27% and 31% of Vietnam War veterans had been affected by PTSD. Moreover, rese arch conducted by the Walter Reed Army Institute on veterans from the Iraq war revealed that 16 to 17% tested positive for PTSD, anxiety or depression. In addition, studies conducted on 289, 328 veterans who had been involved in wars at Afghanistan or Iraq revealed that 21.8% were diagnosed with PTSD. Over and above this, investigations revealed that following the invasion of Iraq, prevalence rate of PTSD among veterans increased between four to seven times. Consequently, the research recognized that PTSD was highly prevalent among war veterans. To this end, the research equally ascertained that a number of cases were not reported or recognized. Consequently, there was a need for emphasizing the role of nurses in identifying the signs and symptoms of PTSD during veteran assistance. In recognition of the prevalence rate of PTSD among veterans, there existed a gap in dispensing appropriate health intervention to the PTSD patients. This was in recognition that most cases of PTSD were n ot reported or offered due recognition. Consequently, the principal nursing issue is that veterans suffering from PTSD are not offered sufficient treatment. The main reason has been due to lack of a collaborative effort by all health care providers in the dispensing of treatment. To this effect, the specific nursing psychiatric issue lies in the isolation of the symptoms of veterans suffering from PTSD. My choice in selecting the article was spurred by the wish to discover various mental

Graduation Speech: Remain in Christ :: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address
It's been great attending County Christian School. Where else do students walk into school at 7:55 and receive a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie? Then, after third period, Mr. Obrastoff combs our hair and sings to us. It really has been a delightful place to go to school. In all seriousness, we have been blessed to go to this school. We have been looked after and protected. Now, we prepare for the real world. We will be facing new temptations and challenges. It's not like as soon as we walk out these doors after receiving our diploma there's going to be a line of rough-looking guys who are going to be saying, "Hey I'll give you ten million dollars if you go rob that bank," or "Hey, do you want to join the mafia?" It's not going to be like that. However, once we are out from the protection of our school and families, it will be between just God and us. Our society today will be encouraging infidelity, lying, and substance abuse. Self-centeredness will be the dominant viewpoint. For those of you who are going on to another Christian community, I challenge you to be the different ones. Christian groups too often say, "yeah, praise God," and then not always walk in His steps. They see Christianity as just obeying the big rules instead of a daily faith relationship with God. They might even ask you to do subtle things that break God's rules. Take that extra step and really be a leader. Be the one person that everyone can look up to and say that you have the love of Jesus in your heart. Show them that you are truly on fire for God. For those of you who are going on to a secular society, I challenge you to remain in Christ and try to find some Christian friends. You are going to be in a hostile environment. Most people won't believe the same things as you. People will not only be asking you to do little things that will break God's rules, but also things that seem big. You need to stand up for your beliefs and show them that you are different. This means you can't be afraid to say no, that's not right, but remember you can't resist temptations on your own, you need God working openly in your life. If you find a good group of Christians, it will also help you to have someone to hold you accountable and fellowship with.

What Qualities do you Look for in a Friend
I know a trusty friend when I see one. My friend could be anyone from a 3 year old to an old person; a school going or maybe a housewife, it could also be someone who is retired living just round the next corner of our street, and giving a friendly smile when I pass by, it could be anyone or might just be a waving friend who is on his way to work, while leaving their footprints on peoples heart, and their footsteps echoing down the dusky laneâ⬠¦.As you might not expect this, but the first thing I would search for in a friend is a rib-tickling nature, one who does not feel bad for anything, it is not only valuable for your problems but you also need someone to make fun with. Everyone needs to laugh and some humour is necessary in a friendship, getting a friend is not a dime a dozen, next I would want my friend to be a good listener and an entertaining talker, I canââ¬â¢t have a friend who doesnââ¬â¢t listen to me or is mumââ¬â¢s the word, I wouldn't like to go to a movie or hangout with someone like that.Itââ¬â¢s not that I want someone who is a picture perfect person but someone who would love to do a mistake togather and still keep smiling and laughing, my friend should also be an honest person, and tell me the truth whether itââ¬â¢s about me or someone else, because thatââ¬â¢s what real friends do, A real friend will always tell the truth no matter what! Itââ¬â¢s not important that my friend should be the most popular in school or the most fashionable or the brainy one but also not a fuddy-duddy one too, or not someone who would hit the books too often, equally I would also want my friend to be respectful, caring and a jolly person. However, everyone has different opinions and it is important that my friend shows enough respect for my point of view, as well as myself giving them enough respect, some factors like these if not maintained in a friendship can pull the plug, My friend should also not be like Queer the pitch sort of person. Lastly my friend would be someone who is friendly, trustworthy, and not a betrayer or someone who would want the whole nine yards, but someone with whom I could say ââ¬Å"Variety is the spice of lifeâ⬠, the day when Iââ¬â¢ll get such a friend will be the day when the X marks the spot.

The Intelligence Of Women By Jack London - 930 Words
The intelligence of women is a controversial matter which has been debated for centuries. Although recent feminist movements have allowed for more equality between men and women, traits such as ââ¬Å"emotionalâ⬠and ââ¬Å"worrisomeâ⬠are perceived in a manner that allow women to be viewed as inferior. In To Build A Fire by Jack London, the independence of man is tested as he tries to survive through excruciating cold weather. The man fails various attempts at starting a fire, eventually leading to his death. Although the short story does not evidently introduce a female character, To Build A Fire exemplifies the discrediting of womanââ¬â¢s intelligence as a result of perception. The vigilant attribute which many women obtain is often criticized and perceived to be a sign of weakness. This notion is depicted when the man in To Build A Fire begins reflecting on the advice given to him before entering the cold. London writes, ââ¬Å"He remembered the advice of the old man on Sulphur Creek, and smiled. The man had been very serious when he said that no man should travel alone in that country after 50 below zero. Well, here he was; he had had the accident; he was alone; and he had saved himselfâ⬠(72). In this instance, the man in the story finds himself to be complete without a companion. This thought represents a viewpoint on the role of women in the life of men. The activities of the group began in week 2 with the brainstorming of ideas for the search and choice of a brand that we wanted to promote through the use of a social media platform. The group had only one member at this point. In we ek three, the activities of the group intensified as the group membership increased to three people. We narrowed down the ideas we generated during our brainstorming phase of the activity by choosing our preferred brand and a social networking platform. We specifically settled on Kalimah Brand as our preferred brand and Facebook as our preferred social networking website. The Procedure and Outcome of the Social Networking Activity Kalimah Brand is a prolific clothing line that is based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The brand specializes in the manufacture and distribution of top notch fashion clothing that caters for the needs of customers across the market demographics. Our choice of Kalimah Brand was primarily informed by the companyââ¬â¢s online presence. The brand operates at the Kalimah e-store through which it distributes its vibrant fashion and clothing varieties. We reckoned that this would make it easier for us to integrate and synergize the online visibility of the Kalimah e -store with our interactions and our target customers on our Facebook page. The choice of Facebook being our preferred social media platform, was influenced by the popularity and end-user friendly characteristics of Facebook in comparison to other social media platforms such as Twitter and Myspace. We sufficiently established that Facebook would guarantee easy integration between our target individual clothing items of the Kalimah Brand, the Kalimah e-store, and our group page. Moreover, we recognized that the use of Facebook among the population is more widespread in Saudi Arabia compared to the other social media networks. As such, this provided the group with a great potential to reach out as many customers as possible while creating a huge fan base for our groupââ¬â¢s discussion board and forum.Advertising Looking for report on it? We created different demographic categories that mainly included ââ¬Å"Womenâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Menâ⬠for our targeted marketing of products. We then proceeded to upload 15 pictures for the ââ¬Å"Womenâ⬠category. Our membership increased to five people with the addition of a new group member ââ¬Å"Mehdiâ⬠having been the hallmark activity of the week. The quality of our discussion forum similarly improved tremendously. Our fan page particularly contributed towards creating a feedback-oriented discussion forum for our group page. Week five saw our membership increase to eight with the upload of 20 pictures for the ââ¬Å"Menâ⬠category of our brandââ¬â¢s products having taken the center stage. Our activities went a notch higher in week six when we promoted ladiesââ¬â¢ t-shirts for summer. Our Facebook group page became more active following the growth of our membership to 13 people. We were particularly impressed by the response of customers on our Facebook page as many people began to inquire about the store manufacturer, the location of the store, and delivery methods for products. By week seven, our membership had doubled to 26 people and the number of inquiries about our brandââ¬â¢s products continued to increase. Conclusion The success of our group was largely motivated by the high quality standards of clothes from the Kalimah Brand. It was easy to sell these products because their photographs were evidently appealing encouraging prospective customers to seek for more information. The ease of feedback communication was the biggest advantage of social media networking that we experienced during this group activity. The parade involves a colorful display of costumes accompanied by Calypso and Soca music indigenous from Trinidad and Tobago. This flamboyant affair is organized and financed by the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (Moss, 2007). This gathering of people from different cultures is a clear indication of the growth of the American socie ty and illustrates how they have learnt to live together despite their different backgrounds. The interaction of different cultures is a proof of diversity at its best, and the success stories written about the carnival show intercultural maturity in the USA. These celebrations are done during the national Labor Day celebrations and are a show of solidarity of the American people with the rest of the world (Flower, 2010). The interaction between the different people has resulted in them understanding other peopleââ¬â¢s culture, and thus making them less judgmental of others. When such events take place, they leave very little room for any group of people to feel like they are outsiders in a foreign land. Thus, the event fosters togetherness in any society since life in a cosmopolitan city like New York consists of interactions between people from different places and all of them have their own way of life (Ruben Randy 2012).Advertising Looking for research paper on cultu ral studies? America boasts of diversity that is unrivaled elsewhere in the world since its community is made up of people from all over the world (Flower, 2010). These annual celebrations have become a part of the new culture created by these interactions and as a result the celebration has found its way into the national calendar of events. The various people with different cultures that came together to interact have since led to the creation of a new culture that includes all the residents of New York. This has even attracted tourists to the event. Even though the event has had incidences of viol ence and some elements of insecurity the organizers have found a way of curbing them (Flower, 2010). The carnival is a tourist attraction and has led to the popularization of the event which has further inspired musicians such as Bob Marley and Jay Z to perform. The parade has shown how people can co-exist peacefully if only they can learn from each otherââ¬â¢s culture and understand and at the same time appreciate the role that each of them plays in the society (Moss, 2007). Despite the carnival being suspended for five years due to the violence experienced then, the organizers were able to deal with the incidences and the celebrations were again permitted. The ability of this event to grow from the late 1940s to date shows how cultural resilience prospers and how the different cultures get over their differences and resume planning an incidents-free celebration (Ruben Randy 2012). In conclusion, the Labor Day carnival as a festival in New York is a very prominent indication of diversity in the American society. The various cultures brought together by this celebration clearly show the multicultural nature of this society and their efforts to integrate others in their society.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The Different Cultures Interaction on the Labor Day Carnival specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Flower, Linda.
